Project 1 - Convert cheap GPS to expensive PDA.

Mio C320 GPS 114.00 found at slickdeals

So I was checking out the various GPS devices and thought a lot of them were really expensive. Several months went by and I came across a Hack-A-Day article about a GPS some hackers were making software for. It was the Mio c320 and above. Apparently most GPS devises run on windows CE. By default TOM TOM and the various other GPS makers won't allow you to use the CE client only there software. Luckily though you can unlock your GPS so you can get the the Windows CE system running beneath and turn your GPS into a PDA.

Installation instructions

Installation for my Mio c320 was easy because the software was made for it. So far everything works flawlessly and I'll post a pic of my mio running my favorite skin. It comes with about 20 games. It comes with software to keep appointments read pdf, word, excel, power point presentations, and much more. If you want to uninstall the software you just remove the sd card its loaded on and do a hard reboot.

With this hack installed you can run other GPS software in it such as tom tom, iGO and too many to name here. I haven't figured were to put the other gps software on it but so far the miomaps it comes with have been great. The media player works flawlessly and I've been watching movies and listening to music on it. It will play a wide variety of video codecs.
